Parliamentary Library is a self-standing division of the Chancellery of the National Council of the Slovak Republic, included into the Parliamentary Institute.
Parliamentary Library was created by the decision of the Presidency of the Slovak National Council Nb. 1511/1991.

Parliamentary Library is not a public library. According to the Library Act 126/2015 it has a status of the special library. The services are provided for the members of parliament, the staff of the Chancellery of the National Council of the Slovak Republic, special users and the university students since 2012 as well (see Library and Loan Rules of the Parliamentary Library).

Parliamentary Library co-operates with the greatest libraries and information institutions in Slovakia, with selected institutions of the European Union and foreign parliamentary libraries. Since 1991 the Parliamentary Library has been a member of the Section of Parliamentary Libraries and Research Services IFLA (International federation of Library Associations).
   
The library collection:

The book collection consists of 95 000 books (from the areas: law, politics, parliamentarism, statistics, economy, information technologies, social sciences, encyclopedia, vocabularies, etc.). Special collection consists of the complete Collection of Laws of Czechoslovakia and Slovakia since 1918, parliamentary documents, constitutions and standing orders of the countries of the world.

The periodicals collection consists of aprox. 850 titules of periodicals and 50 titules of foreign periodicals. DVD databases are included into the library collections.
